DIAGNOSTICS OF SELECTED SURFACE CHARACTERISTICS WITH LASER PROFILOMETRY

Abstract

The paper is focused on the quality evaluation of the surface using the LPM laser profilometer. The measured sample was manufactured by Mitutoyo, Japan with surface roughness 2.94µm. The main goal was proper adujstment of the internal gain of the camera video signal (Gain mode) which affects the quality of the measured data. Measurement and evaluation show that the laser profile mode selection has a significant impact on the obtained data and depends on the type and character of the measured surface.
